Incident Commander for Mälardalen Rescue Service

We are now looking for an incident commander for the rescue department. We offer a role with interesting and challenging tasks where you contribute to development within a modern association. In your role, you will work as an Incident Commander and with the tasks and projects within the operational area.

Responsibilities

Your assignment and role are to lead operations or be part of the management organization at an accident site. The other part of your role is to work with operationally related issues where you will work both on individual tasks and in project form. You are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on activities and assignments. You also work to promote job satisfaction and a good work environment at the workplace while upholding the association's values.

You will be one of six Incident Commanders working on a rotating schedule that includes shared shifts on weekdays and weekends, with office hours also part of the schedule.

Within the rescue department, we work together to create good conditions for achieving goals and results. There are opportunities to influence the assignment together with other employees within the unit and the association.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a full-time employee within municipal rescue services with primary employment in operational emergency response
  • Has approved LK1 training or equivalent training according to previous educational systems
  • Has a good ability to express oneself in speech and writing
  • Is computer literate
  • Has a B driver's license

Meritorious

  • LK 2 or equivalent training according to previous educational systems
  • Experience as a manager/leader
  • Has an easy time working with digital systems

  • 3 hours of training during working hours/week

We have high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. For this position, this means that a security review with background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. Employment comes with an obligation to be placed in a war position at Mälardalen Rescue Service.

The association actively works for a drug-free workplace. Therefore, you will undergo a drug test before employment. We also perform daily alcohol tests for all staff.

Mälardalen Rescue Service is a municipal association for rescue services and preventive fire protection between the municipalities of Arboga, Hallstahammar, Kungsör, Köping, Surahammar, and Västerås. We currently have about 280 employees who all strive to achieve an accident-free society. The risk landscape is broad due to the port, oil port, airport, several larger industries, European roads, national roads, high buildings, underground facilities, and old cultural buildings. This guarantees a workplace with varied tasks.
